A few things to keep in mind as your bag becomes part of your everyday.Natural leather changes gently with the way it is carried. Soft creases, shifts in grain, and subtle changes in tone are part of how the leather settles over time.
WEIGHT & WHAT YOU CARRY: Carrying excessive weight or overfilling the bag for long periods may gradually alter the shape of the body, handles, or straps. Heavier items such as laptops and bottles are best placed evenly to avoid concentrating weight in one area.
FRICTION & PRESSURE: Repeated contact with rough walls, floors, sharp edges, or hard surfaces may leave scratches or wear on the leather. When setting the bag down or storing it, avoid placing heavy objects on top or leaving it compressed for long periods.
COLOR TRANSFER FROM CLOTHING: Light-colored leather may pick up color through repeated contact with dark denim or clothing. Extra care is recommended on rainy or humid days, when moisture can increase the possibility of color transfer.Dark leather may also transfer color onto lighter clothing when exposed to prolonged friction or moisture.
HANDS, COSMETICS & FRAGRANCEN: atural oils from the hands, hand cream, sunscreen, and makeup can gradually affect the color or sheen of leather with repeated contact. Allow skincare or cosmetics to absorb fully before handling your bag whenever possible.Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray, or other alcohol-based products directly onto the leather.
OILS & LIQUIDS: Oils, drinks, and liquid cosmetics may leave lasting marks once absorbed into leather. We recommend keeping bottles, tumblers, and cosmetics securely closed or inside a separate pouch.
PENS & INK: Ink can be particularly difficult to remove from both leather and lining. Keep pens capped and, whenever possible, inside a pocket or pouch.
KEYRINGS & METAL ACCESSORIES: When adding charms, keyrings, or other metal accessories, take care that sharp edges do not repeatedly rub against the leather. Softer leathers can develop marks even from small metal details over time.
HANDLES & STRAPS: Carrying weight repeatedly in the same direction may gradually change the shape of handles and straps. When the bag is not being carried, allow straps to rest naturally rather than leaving them folded, twisted, or trapped beneath the bag.HEAT & SUNLIGHT: Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight may cause changes in color, dryness, or cracking. Avoid leaving your bag near heaters or inside cars and trunks, particularly during warmer months when temperatures can rise significantly.
SUEDE & NUBUCK: Suede and nubuck are more sensitive to moisture and friction than smooth leather. The direction of the nap and the appearance of the color may naturally change with use — part of the character of these materials.Once completely dry, gently brush the surface in the direction of the nap with a brush designed for suede or nubuck. Avoid wet wipes and conventional leather creams, as they may alter the texture.
PATENT & GLOSSY LEATHER: Patent and glossy leather should not be stored in prolonged contact with other leather goods, vinyl, printed materials, or strongly colored surfaces, as color or impressions may transfer onto the finish. When not in use, keep the bag separately in its dust bag to prevent direct contact with other items.
METAL HARDWARE: Plated hardware may gradually change in tone or shine through repeated contact with perfume, cosmetics, perspiration, and humidity.
After use, gently wiping the hardware with a clean, dry cloth can help preserve its original finish for longer.Small creases, changes in grain, and the gradual evolution of color and sheen are part of the natural character of genuine leather.
With a little thoughtful care, your cortté bag will continue to soften, settle, and become more distinctly yours with time.
